Our Mission

Strong Asian Lead was dedicated to empowering Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) storytellers. We provided education, resources, and events that connected creatives with opportunities to share their unique voices.

Co-founding Strong Asian Lead with Emi Lea Kamemoto, Mas Moriya organized large-scale events, live podcasts, and mentorship programs to amplify Asian American voices in film. The initiative partnered with major organizations and built a directory of 600+ creatives.

Community Impact

From 2020-2024, we created a space where emerging writers and storytellers could thrive. Our events brought together creatives, industry professionals, and community members to celebrate and support Asian American narratives.

This was the first iteration of what would become Filmclusive - A market network for all creatives in the entertainment industry.

Strong Asian Lead is a community organization dedicated to empowering Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) storytellers in the entertainment industry. We provide education, resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities for emerging filmmakers, writers, directors, and industry professionals.

Community Events and Film Screenings

We host regular film screenings, panel discussions, and community events featuring Asian American filmmakers and industry professionals. Our events include the Chan Is Missing screening series, Peking Tavern APIHM celebrations, Flower Drum Song legacy screenings, and Budokan panel discussions.

Strong Asian Lead Podcast

Our podcast features conversations with Asian American filmmakers, industry professionals, and community leaders. Listen to interviews with directors, producers, writers, and actors who are breaking barriers in Hollywood and creating authentic Asian American stories.

Film Industry Diversity and Inclusion

We advocate for greater diversity and inclusion in the film industry, supporting Asian American representation both in front of and behind the camera. Our community includes over 600 creatives working in various aspects of filmmaking and entertainment.

Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Events

We celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with special events, screenings, and community gatherings that highlight the contributions of AANHPI artists and storytellers to American culture and entertainment.

WGA SAG-AFTRA Strike Support

We support writers and actors in their fight for fair compensation and working conditions in the entertainment industry. Our SAL Picket Party events show solidarity with striking workers and advocate for better representation and treatment of all creatives.

Strong Asian Lead has evolved into Filmclusive, a comprehensive market network for all creatives in the entertainment industry. This platform connects filmmakers, writers, producers, and other industry professionals across all backgrounds and communities.
